JEDDAH: Eight wanted militants including one who figured on a list of 85 terrorists have surrendered to security agencies, a spokesman of the Interior Ministry said yesterday.
“Arrangements were made to facilitate their return to the Kingdom with the support of foreign security agencies. We have informed the Interpol to stop searching for them,” the spokesman said.
He said the militants were allowed to meet with their relatives soon after their arrival.
“They also underwent necessary medical tests to ensure they are in good health,” he added.
“The militants’ gesture to surrender would be taken into consideration while looking into their cases,” the ministry said and urged the remaining wanted militants to surrender.
The spokesman commended the role played by Prince Muhammad bin Naif Counseling Center and the militants’ relatives in convincing them to surrender.
