AOT defeated mighty My Care Hala Green, AMI Juffali trounced champion China Southern Airlines, Hala Academy Blue humbled Jotun Paints while Dopco Young Stars had a free ride against Al Safree into the semifinals of the WPCA Summer Cricket Tournament.
Young talent-laden AOT batted first against My Care Hala Green and piled up 194 for 6 in 20 overs thanks to Akram making 41 in 33 balls, Pervaiz 34, Zakir Habeeb 32 and Uzair 30. Shahid Ali took 3-27 and Azhar 2-30.
My Care was restricted to 172 all out as Zakir Habeeb scalped 3-18, Pervaiz 2-36 and Akram 2-22 while from the team’s batting lineup only Hassan Malik stood firm to hit 52 in 30 balls, Salman 26 and Azhar 23.
Jotun Paints opted to bat first and made 153 for 7 as Zafraan scored 37, Ijaz unbeaten 28 and Saleem Butt 26. Shabaz took 2-24 and Ramazan 2-32. Hala Academy Blue achieved the winning post of 154 in 103 balls with 6 wickets in hand, as Saim Sherwani hammered 47 in 29 balls, Malik Usman 44 in 34 and Shahbaz 37 off 32 balls.
China Southern Airlines chose to bat first, posting 179 for 7 through Abdullah and Mohammed Asim as Asif took 3-33 and Mohammed 2 wickets. On chase AMI Juffali comfortably home with 6 balls to spare by making 180 for 7 through Shaboor (46 in 33 balls) and Mohammed who faced 18 balls to compile 41. Later Asif stroked 24 to get his team into the last four.
Al Saudi XI piled up 210 for 5 through Ghayour Sajjad who hammered 86 in 47 balls with 4 sixes and 9 fours and last week centurion Zeeshan Soherwardy made 49 off 20 as Imran of ALJ took 2-52. ALJ Toyota chasing huge target could only muster 170 for 9 to lose by 31 runs, with Imran making a fine 72 in 32 balls with the help of 10 fours and 3 sixes and Zahid 22 while Fouad Ali grabbed 4 wickets for 23 and Naveed 2-29.
Al Mazroi using the track first against QRCC posted 172 for 7 as Kifayatullah smashed unbeaten 50 and Faisal 38, Sufiyan 18 and Badar 17 while Arshad took 2-4.
QRCC was home on the last ball thanks to a cameo innings under the hot sun by Zahid who hammered unbeaten 92 in 49 balls with 11 hits to the fence and 3 sixes as Aamir made 25 and Abdulrauf 20. Mubeen took 3-21, Abdul 2-13 and Badar 2-38.
