RIYADH: The 15th Arab Creative Students Forum (ACSF) representing various Arab-world universities will be held in Saudi Arabia at Imam Mohammad ibn Saud Islamic University (IMSIU), according to the varsity Rector Suleiman bin Abdullah Aba Al-Khail, who presided over the organizing committee meeting on Wednesday.
In his statement, Aba Al-Khail said that the forum would be under the aegis of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, under the supervision of the deanship of talent, creativity and excellence at the university. The committee has named the forum’s theme as “Arab Universities and Development”.
Aba Al-Khail noted that the support of King Abdullah is evidence of his and the other leaders’ care of this country. “This shows the leadership’s continued support toward the advancement of their sons and daughters, both male and female students, in this great country,” he observed.
He underlined the importance of the conference as an attribute to talented Saudi students and their counterparts in Arab universities, noting that the forum aimed to encourage the students' scientific activities, culture and artistic endeavors according to its designed goals and themes.
In addition to the value and importance of its host university, which had an active presence in the establishment’s organizing conferences, seminars and forums, he pointing out the great value the event had for the participation of talented and creative students in Arab universities.
Aba Al-Khail said: “King Abdullah’s era is the era of higher education and cultural building; distinctive contributions to the modern knowledge-based economy which will remain in the memory of history and will be kept in the memories of generation after generation,” adding that this would be a source of pride for Imam University as being the first Saudi university to host this event, which would be attended by more than 150 Arab personalities.
Speaking on his part, Department Dean Abdullah bin Thani said the committee meeting had discussed a number of relevant issues, notably the allocated budget for the forum, the scheduling of the opening ceremony and the prospected invited personalities, in addition to identifying the venue and the exhibition, as well as the winner’s awards.
