JEDDAH, 24 February 2005 — Al-Ahli soccer team manager Tareq Kayyal has resigned. Ahli club president, Dr. Ayman Fadel, accepted his resignation in a meeting with members of the board on Tuesday.

In ending his association with Ahli, Kayyal said he was stepping down to give management a free hand to make the changes necessary in the best interests of the club.

Kayyal’s departure comes on the heels of poor run of results including the embarrassing defeat by Second Division side Al-Watani of Tabuk last Friday in the Crown Prince Cup.

Dr. Fadel appointed Wajdi Al-Taweel as the new team manager to succeed Kayyal. He thanked the Ahli prexy for the trust in him and that he will do his best to serve the Ahli team. Al-Taweel held the same job in the past with Ahli.

Ahli fans welcomed the resignation decision and accepted Kayyal’s apologies for the recent team results.
