RIYADH, 24 March 2005 — Dugong Bughaw sneaked in a performance by a team not named For Life! or ABV Pin Rockers as they took centerstage with a Team of the Week and Bowler of the Week double during the 18th session in the Thursday Night Inter-Commercial Bowling League 3rd Conference here.
Breaking the two heavyweights’ stranglehold of honors the past four weeks, Dugong Bughaw returned the best figures of 26 points and total pinfalls of 4,390 in beating Pafilon -78 (18 points, 4,012 pinfalls) and taking the team award.
Rey Moya completed a Dugong Bughaw honors sweep when he ruled the individual Bowler of the Week race carding the high series of 926 on lines of 194, 191, 243, 218 and 80 handicap.
While the Pin Rockers took the week off For Life! won a close battle against RBC Patriots 22-19 on total pinfalls of 4,091-4,058.
Blue Diamonds and 3Xtremz both reached 20 points in beating “B” Bowlers 21-15 (3,951-3,858) and MBAP 20-5 (3,753-3,412) respectively, while Tira Bola brought down Rock N’ Bowl 18.5-14.5 (3,840-3,770) in the other matches in the five-man team league event sponsored by United Food Company (Pizza Inn through Director of Training Mohamed Zanzoul and Restaurant Manager Mohammad M. Farah.
Benjie Macatuno was the other Dugong Bughaw player to break 900, rolling 917 and teammate Saud Egil was just six pins short at 895. Team captain Shakur Kamlian shot 836 and Muds Dais made 815 in a fluent five-man attack.
On a day when Riyadh Bowling Club lanes took a beating Boy Mirando of Pafilon — 78 became the third player to break 900 with his 914 while 13 others scored 800 or better.
Sammy San Juan shone brightest at Blue Diamonds with 875 with Ronald Bautista and Henry Acosta compiling 871 and 767 as the two others to complete four games. Contributions of 520, 395, 355 and 169 were posted by Nestor Ranido, Ming Barnachea, Mar Liberato and Boy Bartolome in that order. 3Xtremz went with the quintet of Edwin Timango (827), Rahman Gurung and Edwin Pecson each with 737s, William Ybay (734) and Romy Goliat (718).
