DAMMAM, 31 March 2005 — Swisstar, Secco, KFMCC, Youngstars, & Senddex won matches against separate opponents in the Swisstar-sponsored DCA League here.
Swisstar defeated Switz Bakery by eight wickets, Sceco stunned Bridgestone, KFMCC beat Sri Lankand Sports Club by 3 wickets, Youngstar XI whipped Anak Cricketers by 26 runs and Senddex thrashed Zamil Air Conditioner by 7 wickets. After electing to bat Switz Bakery openers batted well and took their score to 27 in just 5 overs. After the fall of both openers Saud and Sameer, their middle batting order collapsed. No batsmen were able settle and accelerate their score. Finally they were bowled out for a meager total of 70.
On chase, Swisstar too lost their first wicket in the first over. Subsequently, the other opener Bala and middle order batsman Sawan achieved the required target in just 11 overs.
In a crucial match, Sceco elected to bat. Opener Munir batted superbly but the rest of the batsmen were unable to do much. Finally at the end, they managed to reach 123 in allotted 20 overs. On chase, Bridgestone lost 3 quick wickets at the score of 9 runs and were unable to consolidate their innings to chase the target. Only Adarsh showed some resistance by batting sensibly without the support of a partner, and concluded their innings at 83 and lost the match in the 16th over.
Sri Lankan Sports Club started their innings miserably, not showing any resistance to the bowling attack of KFMMC. No batsman was able to make any remarkable batting to accelerate the score and were bundled out for just 73. On chase, KFMCC frontline batsman batted recklessly & at one stage they were 51 for seven. Ranjit came to the rescue by batting with patience and KFMCC marched toward victory in their 16th over.
After electing to bat, Young Star cricketers lost three quick wickets. Middle batsmen Asnaka & Manju came to the rescue by batting aggressively and accelerated the score to 101 with the loss of 5 wickets. In the last 3 overs, Sampat further blasted quick 32 runs to reach the defendable total of 155. On chase, Anak Cricketers frontline batsman were not able to contribute much for their side and lost 6 wickets in first 9 overs when the score was 33. Only Share Ali and Shakir batted with power and blasted quick 63. But it was not enough to reach the target laid by Youngstar, and Anak lost the match by 26 runs.
Zamir batsmen made no progress against the accurate bowling and fielding of Senddex. They were bowled out for just 63. Senddex then achieved their target in just 13 overs by losing 3 wickets.
