TORONTO, 8 April 2005 — Allen Iverson scored 48 points — 30 of them in the first half — as the Philadelphia 76ers edged the Charlotte Bobcats 106-103 in National Basketball Association play on Wednesday in Philadelphia.
The Sixers led by 25 points in the first half, but the Bobcats fought back to close to within one point in the fourth quarter before falling short. Kyle Korver sank two late free throws to seal the win for the Sixers, as Charlotte lost for the sixth straight game.
Iverson went 17-for-31 from the field and had eight assists and seven rebounds. Marc Jackson added 13 points for the Sixers. Primoz Brezac led Charlotte with 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Bobcats, while Cory Alexander added 17 points. Emeka Okafor added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the losers.
In other NBA games, Stephen Jackson scored 23 points to help the Indiana Pacers to a 98-77 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Indianapolis. Reggie Miller added 17 points to help the Pacers to their fifth straight win. LeBron James scored 20 points and Drew Gooden added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Cavaliers.
In Toronto, Pau Gasol drained 26 points to help the Memphis Grizzlies coast to a 104-74 win over the Raptors. Bonzi Wells had 21 points and Lorenzen Wright added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Memphis.
In Boston, Ricky Davis scored 27 points and Paul Pierce contributed 26 to help the Celtics to a 103-97 come-from-behind win over the Milwaukee Bucks. Raef LaFrentz scored 13 points and Mark Blount and Delonte West each chipped in with 10 points in the win.
Desmond Mason put in a team-high 23 points and Dan Gadzuric had 17 points and 14 rebounds.
In Orlando, Kirk Hinrich scored 25 points and Tyson Chandler added 15 points and 22 rebounds to give the Chicago Bulls a 102-101 win over the Magic in overtime.
Antonio Davis had 11 points and 14 rebounds and drained a pair of free throws in the final seconds of overtime. Steve Francis paced the Magic with 28 points and 11 assists.
In Auburn Hills, Ben Wallace collected 21 points and 18 rebounds to help the Pistons to a 105-93 win over the Washington Wizards.
Tayshaun Prince scored 17 points and added 10 rebounds as the Pistons won their fourth straight. Larry Hughes buried 28 points for Washington.
In New Orleans, Carmelo Anthony scored 18 points to lead the Denver Nuggets to a 94-83 win over the New Orleans Hornets. Marcus Camby added 11 points and 13 rebounds to help the Nuggets to their fifth straight win. Dan Dickau was the Hornets’ top scorer with 20 points.
In San Antonio, Manu scored 16 points and Brent Barry added 12 from the bench to help the Spurs to a 91-82 win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Corey Maggette scored 23 points for the Clippers.
