Two Italian brothers, Guiseppe and Guitano who changed their names to Toni and Guy, found the trendsetting and most magnificent brand in 1963. They lived in London and worked with their father who was also a hairdresser. Younger brothers Bruno and Anthony later joined them. TONI&GUY Salons and TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academies provide more than a hairstyle; they offer a comprehensive fashion lifestyle.

TONI&GUY's education is its USP (unique selling preposition). Over the decades, innumerable salons have tried to carve their niche into the fashion hairstyle industry. But till date, only a few made it to the big picture. Even less, only one emerged and remained to be a true winner.

TONI&GUY has never compromised the standard of quality and have achieved this by updating their technicians, artists and stylists with the latest trends and techniques without fail. They opened their first franchised salon in 1989. Tony, now over 73 years old, still works with the company and still works one day in the salon.

Their art director Martine told Arab News: “Our USP is our in-house education system with over 28 academies worldwide. Suzanne Kobrosly is main partner of the project. I am a small shareholder. Her son Mario was the key figure behind the idea of opening TONI&GUY in Jeddah. After acquiring his degree in International Business in London, he saw the potential and it grew from there.”

Along with TiGi (their fashionable line of styling products) TONI&GUY offers their super style statement haircuts, hair styling and makeup (using three different king brands). Their “Salt Room” is like no other in Jeddah. It is a small room compromising of two chairs, much like a studio. The room creates an alluring aura meant for the healing of asthma, nausea, snoring and stress and is also a halo-effect. Their Mud Ghusool is a mythological steam room that, like any other, offers a feeling of harmony. It “rains on you,” as their ceiling showers produce an emphatic feel of nirvana.

TONI&GUY also offers what no other salon in Jeddah does: their “VIP- Bride” room. This proffers a private section where a bride and her girlfriends can enjoy the astounding services within the luxury of their own room. Their nail station with OPI, Ella and other top brands is an incentive. The three-story building is full of surprises, around every corner. It even has its red sporty café on the top floor. They offer therapeutic rooms with massage and therapy other than their in house equipment for cellulite and body treatment. TONI&GUY has specified stations for hair color, straightening, cutting and styling.

Trainers in TONI&GUY in Jeddah are being trained by senior artists and will be flown to join the academy in the UK. Their senior technicians and art director spoke to Arab News during the launch event. Talking about the different texture and skin of Saudi women in contrast to Europeans, Martine said: “It all varies and depends on the technicalities. We at TONI&GUY are taught to deal with all types of hair and cutting.”

She revealed that there are more than 400 salons in the organization. In addition, TONI&GUY has won over 50 British Hairdressing Awards, including 11 for Best British Artistic Team — a record — as well as the British Hairdresser of the Year three times. The intense training and distinguished education provided at TONI&GUY is responsible for maintaining quality and keeping only superlative hair artists on top of their game, she added.

Just in time to re-create the amazing looks from the upcoming London Fashion Week, TONI&GUY has launched their new Label M line of products and styling products in the fashion hub of the Kingdom. Their electrical hairstyling tools have been verified and tested by none other than Global Creative Director Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck.

TONI&GUY celebrated their 20th anniversary in the US in 2005. The opening was hosted with neon flashlights and laser show marking its presence. The interiors were chic and simple, with every floor having its own theme. The soothing off-white tiles and bamboo shoots carved a warm ambience for its customers. Now, open to all, not particularly waiting on bookings, you can go there and be served as one of their first clients.

Toni Mascolo, the master and creator of the brand will be here to grace the occasion in the end of next month to mark the grand opening of TONI&GUY in Jeddah.
