Jeddah's week-long art festival “Arabian Wings Haii” concluded on a successful note and with a sale of SR 1 million worth of artworks. Sixteen Saudi artists have also been chosen to show their works in an art show in Dubai from March 17 to 25.
“The event was a great success, even more than we had expected. We sold almost 90 percent of artwork of the ‘Limited Edition 2.’ This exhibition brought out the talents of Saudi artists,” said Mohammed Bahrawi, co-founder of Arabian Wings.
The festival that ended on Friday was organized by Arabian Wings in partnership with Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiatives (ALJCI), and in cooperation with Brown Book Dubai, Saudi Art and Culture Association and Ministry of Culture and Information.
A number of different activities and live art shows delighted over 5,000 visitors, comprising art lovers, students and around 200 diplomats and other dignitaries.
The event showcased innovative and contemporary artwork of 26 Saudi artists and was inaugurated on behalf of Minister of Culture and Information Abdul Aziz Khoja by Saud A. Al-Sheikhi, general manager at the ministry's Makkah region branch.
Sheikhi praised the efforts of Arabian Wings, saying the festival was an amalgamation of excellent work and efforts of Saudi artists.
Bahrawi said Arabian Wings is forming a union of all Jeddah art galleries under one umbrella called “Jeddah Galleries.”
