Guanzon, a former Adamson University Falcon in the UAAP and Batangas Blades player in the MBA, exploded with 25 points while also displaying his rebounding prowess and Greason supported him with 12 points and 13 shot blocks as they powered Butler to a 78-63 victory over Airnet in the Overseas Filipino Basketball League (OFBL) 2012 Conference at the Time-out Sports Academy court on Television Street, Gulail District on the outskirts of Jeddah.
Both teams played intense in the first two quarters, Bristol, Ismael and Bautista teaming up for Airnet. They tried to match up the aggressiveness of the opponents but after that first half, Butler was ahead by 57-46 at the end of the third quarter.
That was when Guanzon, named Best Player of the game, really played well while Greason shone on defense all game long.
Dela Paz added 14 and Leo Sacramento 12 points.
Best Player Tagara scored 29 points while Dano added 21 points to help Sajco beat Jollibee 91-84.
Sajco took a 25-20 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Moymoy Bantillan took over the offensive chores at Jollibee hitting 17 of his 37 points in the second quarter to put his team within 45-44 to close the first half.
Bantillan can’t keep his momentum in the second half because of Sajco’s swarming defense especially in the final quarter. De Leon also contributed for Sajco with 12 points including his tremendous defense on Bantillan was a big factor in the victory.
Meantime, Dabarkadz continued their hot display in the Friday Morning Division, crushing Event Mall 102-84 fo their third straight victory. Mangalindan scored 29 points to become the Best Player of the game while Querubin added 23 points.
Event Mall was in the game only in the first quarter keeps thanks to its point guard, Brosoto, who played well and scored 20 points. It was all Dabarkadz in the last three quarters and they never Event Mall a chance to come back in the game.
