Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh, as part of its commitment to cheer up autism patients, recently participated in the “Light It Up Blue” campaign.
Commemorating World Autism Awareness Day, the hotel team wore awareness pins in support of the cause.
The hotel illuminated its lobby in blue — the official color of autism awareness. Awareness flyers and brochures were also distributed throughout the hotel.
The hotel hosted a special lunch event on April 29 for autistic children of the Charitable Society of Autism Families. A number of kids from the association attended the event along with their families. Fun activities were lined up and presents were given to special young guests.
The event was attended by Princess Samira bint Abdullah Al-Faisal Al-Farhan Al-Saud, chairperson of the board of directors of the Charitable Association of Autism Families, along with members of the association.
It was a celebration of the unique talents of these special children, and the idea was to make them feel embraced by society.
The event aimed at encouraging autism’s early diagnosis and intervention.
World Autism Awareness Day was declared by the UN in 2007 to pay tribute to individuals and families around the world affected by autism, a group of complex developmental brain disorders.
In December 2012, the UN Assembly unanimously passed a new resolution encouraging governments to take urgent action to improve access to long-term health care, education, training and intervention programs for persons with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), developmental disorders (DD), and associated disabilities, at local, national and international levels.
The group aims to play a positive role while shouldering different social responsibilities. It supports various health, environmental and educational activities.
Autism is a lifelong neurological condition that manifests during early childhood.
