Sofitel Alkhobar recently hosted a special event for the German community at the Chocolate Lounge. The theme was 2012 Summer Olympic Games. The entire decor was created keeping in mind the essence of the London Olympics. Relevant logos flashed on screens and flags were placed on all the tables to provide the right ambiance. The menu offered amalgamated flavors ranging from across different continents such as Asia, Africa, Europe, Oceana and America, all with a French touch.

The German expatriates were all praise for the hotel's efforts in helping them connect with each other. The hotel officials promised many more community events in the coming days. "Sofitel Alkhobar organized such an event last year as well with a different theme," said a senior management executive of the hotel. "All guests enjoyed the food and the atmosphere at the recent event; they were thrilled by the concept," he added.

The 229-room, five-star hotel overlooks the Arabian Gulf from the Alkhobar Corniche, making it attractive both for beach going tourists from Riyadh and local Saudi and expat communities.

Sofitel Alkhobar has made giant strides in recent months. In a short span, it has been able to capture a significant segment of the hospitality market. A large part of its attraction is the brand name. People associate Sofitel with luxury, and that is what it provides to its guests at the hotel. The other significant reason for its growing popularity is its prime beachfront location.
