Turkish Airlines inaugurated its first international flight to Ordu-Giresun Airport on July 19, with flight number TK 3103 departing from Riyadh. The 150 passenger flight landed in Ordu-Giresun Airport at 4:30 p.m.
Saudi Company Al Ajaji Group chartered the first of six flights, which will be operated weekly by Turkish Airlines.
The passengers of the first international direct flight were welcomed by the governor of Ordu and the mayor of Altınordu, in addition to local government representatives, NGOs, local and international media, and the community.
The inaugural flight was welcomed with a traditional fire water arch salute, followed by Turkish Do&Co, a joint venture company of Turkish Airlines, serving delights and children in local dress gifting flowers to all the passengers.
Saudi passengers leaving the aircraft holding Saudi and Turkish flags said they are the permanent supporters of the Turkish nation. The passengers from the flight distributed 1,000 liters of Zam Zam water and a half ton of dates to people who were waiting to receive the flight.
The Turkish Airlines Riyadh office marked the occasion by organizing a four-day familiarization trip to Ordu with 13 social media influencers from Saudi Arabia and other GCC states. The influencers were part of the inaugural flight and through social media were able to share the nature of Ordu with the world.
The first of the series of six charter flights and the familiarization trip were both organized by Turkish Airlines and Invest in Turkey, the country’s investment agency.
