Dauha Al Uloom marks sports day with fanfare

The 7th Annual Sports Meet of Dauha Al Uloom International School held here recently. Chief guest Dr. Irshad Ahmed, Indian consul for press, information and culture, highlighted the importance of sports, saying it would inculcate team spirit, enhance mental strength and ensure physical fitness.
The program started with a recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an and its translation followed by the school song and the flag hoisting ceremony by the chief guest. Principal in charge Zeenath welcomed the gathering while M.V.A Saleem, managing director, introduced the chief guest to the audience.
The head boy led the march-past with the participants and captains from the four houses following him in marked briskness and perfection. This was followed by the oath taking ceremony administered by the sports captain for the participants.
The students exhibited their athletic skills by competing in four houses Ruby, Emerald, Topaz and Sapphire. Each house had a splendidly decorated logo with captions representing the true spirit of sportsmanship.
The Topaz house bagged the overall championship followed by the Emerald House and the Sapphire House bagging the first and second runners-up trophies respectively. The Dazzling drill formations, gymnastics and karate displays were the highlights of the event. The winners were honored during the prize distribution ceremony.
