The Ministry of Education will employ 80,313 employees on a permanent basis, the Minister of Education Prince Faisal announced.
The employees were earlier employed as substitute teachers or contracted employees to work under the program combating illiteracy.
The minister, quoted by Saudi Press Agency, said the number of employees fixed on educational posts reached 34,583 and included 2,597 male and 31,986 female teachers. The number of employees in administrative posts stood at 28,225 and included 12,154 men and 16,071 women.
Those employed as permanent workers in the Ministry reached 17,378 including 6,854 male and 10,524 female workers whereas the number of employees on health posts reached 127, the minister said.
The minister expressed appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and Crown Prince Salman for their support to the education sector.
