Ericsson has announced that it has received the “Best Saudi innovative telecom vendor” award, which was presented to the company at the TELSA Awards event in Saudi Arabia.
The award recognized Ericsson's technology leadership, business understanding of operators’ challenges in Saudi Arabia, and Ericsson’s extensive experience in managing complex telecom infrastructure projects. Hassan Al-Redha, head of marketing communications, Ericsson Middle East, received the award on behalf of the company.
Ali Eid, president of Ericsson Saudi Arabia, said: “We are extremely pleased to be honored with this award from TELSA, which recognizes our innovation in the telecom world and cements Ericsson’s technology and services leadership. "
He added: "We believe it reflects on Ericsson’s ability to help customers realize their potential, fulfill customer needs for increased efficiency, and provide them with innovative service and network operations. We thank TELSA for their endorsement of the quality and commitment that Ericsson offers."
Ericsson is amongst the main providers responsible for the deployment of Long Term Evolution (LTE) in Saudi Arabia. Ericsson’s leading end-to-end LTE/4G solution enables the operators in Saudi Arabia to provide their customers with the most modern services, including activation of multimedia applications like streaming videos, chatting, cloud services, conferencing and “High-Definition” applications.
As the leader in telecom services, Ericsson globally invested SEK 32.6 billion ($ 5.13 billion) in Research & Development (R&D) in 2011.
This compares with SEK 29.9 billion ($ 4.70 billion) in 2010. Including all technology areas, Ericsson holds a total of 30,000 granted patents and employs more than 18,000 people in R&D units spread over 17 countries.
TELSA Award winners were selected by an exclusive panel of judges. Judges evaluated submissions based on technology innovation, financial impact, market validation and end-user customer experience.
