The National Center for E-Learning and Distance Education (NCELDE) will organize the third international conference on e-learning and distance education on Feb. 4-7, 2013, in Riyadh under the auspices of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.
The conference will bring together a selected group of local and global educationalists and researchers who will explore means on how to develop e-education, review the latest studies in this area and boost awareness on the importance of e-education, head of the NCELDE Abdullah Al-Miqran said.
Such conferences will help develop the educational performance through exchange of expertise and emphasize the creation of the appropriate environment for e-education and learning, he was quoted by the Saudi Press Agency as saying.
The conference will explore educational theories that will shift e-learning and education into a more realistic situation, highlight the cultural and ethical frameworks of e-learning applications, and explore examples of successful e-education initiatives so as to ensure quality of e-learning, he said.
The NCELDE chief said the conferees would also discuss challenges facing e-education, development of the content, and future of e-learning and distance education.
The NCELDE was set up to disseminate the applications of e-learning and distance education in the institutions of higher education, expand the absorptive capacity of university education institutions in the Kingdom, support research and studies in the areas of e-learning and distance education, develop quality standards for the design and production of digital educational materials, and organize meetings, conferences and workshops that contribute to the development of e-learning and distance education.
