Breaking of the fast (iftar) parties at the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah are an incredibly spiritual experience.
People sit close to each other for iftar, reflecting Muslim unity and solidarity.
Many foreign pilgrims expressed happiness at having the opportunity to break fast at the second holiest mosque for Muslims in the world.
Muhammad Al-Sadik from Sudan said he was very happy over being able to visit the Prophet’s Mosque and commended the massive arrangements made by the Saudi government for the welfare and comfort of pilgrims.
He praised the sunshades being constructed in the courtyards around the mosque, saying it would protect worshippers from the scorching sun and heavy rains.
For Salah Ahmed from Egypt, visiting the Two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah has been a longtime dream.
He told Arab News: “By the grace of God I was able to come here after collecting the money required for this spiritual journey over the last several years.”
He thanked Saudi officials for making extensive arrangements to ensure their stay in the Kingdom was comfortable and hassle-free.
Madinah people conduct iftar parties inside and outside the mosque, supplying dates, water and food every day during Ramadan.
Arrangements for iftar begin soon after Asr prayer. The supplies will include various types of fruits, juices, yogurt and bread.
The Madinites including old and young compete with one another to serve the faithful.
Saudi scouts also play a commendable role by extending various services to pilgrims and other visitors of the mosque.
