Lebanese fashion designer Aiisha Ramadan started her fashion career after she graduated from the American University in Dubai in 2002. She launched her fashion brand while working at MBC channel.

As a young girl, Aiisha loved dressing up her dolls. It was one of the first indications of what her future career would be. “The only difference was that back then, I didn't know that there was a professional called a fashion designer behind all the clothes,” she said.

“My first collection was a combination of extremely different dresses. There was no coherence but that's because I didn't know any better and lacked the experience. Looking back at these designs, I still love them but I would've constructed them in a different way,” she added.

Aiisha named her fashion label after her name because she has been the biggest force behind the work. “I do 90 percent of the non-technical work, the designing, the management, the marketing of it all. Above all, as a person, I'm a brand and this is one more reason why some brands have chosen me to become their ambassador,” she said.

When designing a new line, Aiisha is inspired by women and love. “Then I go into specific lines depending on the season and that’s what makes each collection so different,” she said. “I want women to feel flattered in every way, I want them to feel attractive and comfortable,” she added.

Aiisha has different labels for couture, bridal, iconic and upcoming high-end ready-to-wear. “My new line will be under the label 'I by Aiisha.' This line stands for our individuality and our evolution,” she said. “This collection fits into our everyday activities and is considered a high-end ready-to-wear line. It's very structured in comparison to my flowy couture and the colors are strong. It will suit different women with different needs,” she added.

After the success of her first bridal collection for FROST, she decided to surprise her clientele with a collection to redefine the parameters of white elegance. Aiisha's White for Frost 2013 bridal collection bridges the intricacy of couture with the understated glamour of ready-to-wear.

This ready-to-wear collection uses extensive amounts of Italian tulle, silk and French lace and is set to appeal to a true modern, yet timeless bride. Sleeves and beaded lace, with antique-style hand beading, are the main elements reflected in this collection, and marks the return of less is more. “Less skin showing will only make the bride appear more gorgeous. Our designs are inspired by the authenticity of iconic bridal dresses across the history of bridal couture,” said Aiisha. “Dramatic trains are the focal point of our signature pieces. Adorned with Swarovski Elements, some have lace that resemble those in fairy tales,” she added.

According to Ramadan, her couture and bridal wear revolve around texture and the love for detail. “My ready-to-wear takes a simpler direction and in general my style is simple with a single focal point,” she said. “I do send messages through my designs and I like how people interpret them differently. It's like a movie with no defined ending, it's up to the viewer to translate 'what’s next' individually.”

Aiisha believes her designs are special because they will still be beautiful in five or 10 years time, which make them worth the investment. “I'm bringing something classic in a new form. People like timeless pieces that are presented in a cool way,” she said. “Our list of Hollywood celebrities is long and that encourages more stylists and more celebrities to want to wear AIISHA. Raya, Joelle and Aseel Amran in particular are close friends and we are mutual fans of each other's work,” she added.

Aiisha is aiming to upgrade and reach international markets.

Aiisha Couture and Bridal retail are custom-made at FROST Boutique on Jumeirah Beach Road in Dubai.
