JEDDAH: In view of a delay by Twitter in blocking the accounts of Daesh and its supporters, Saudi Twitterati have launched an online campaign demanding closure of these accounts which are being used to spread terror by those who have links with the extremist militant organization.
According to a website, the anti-Daesh campaign is aimed at reaching out to the administration and management of Twitter to make them realize that such accounts are spreading disturbing messages. Saudi tweeps want these accounts to be declared spam and blocked.
The leader of this electronic campaign goes by the user name of Fares444. This account shows other uses the way to popularize the drive and how to get the terror accounts blocked.
The website said that with such a campaign tens of accounts of Daesh supporters were blocked in the recent past. They decided to continue this Twitter campaign to attract more supporters to the cause of closing all Daesh supporting accounts.
Daesh is said to have developed as the most notorious social media group to spread terrorist messages and threats. It also reaches out to innocent people, particularly youth, to brainwash them and trap them for their most heinous crimes.
