LG Electronics (LG) has announced that its front load washing machines have been honored with the Green Product Mark from TUV Rheinland, the German-based consumer goods testing authority. The Green Product Mark is a much sought-after certification which identifies appliances with excellent environmentally-friendly attributes. LG’s front load washing machines are the first products in the home appliances sector to be awarded with this mark, and this can be largely attributed to LG’s Inverter Direct Drive motor, which reduces energy consumption by up to 50 percent in comparison with conventional washing machine motors.
“Eco-friendly standards are getting considerably higher, and at the same time, consumers are becoming much more aware of which home appliances are truly green,” said Sang inn Lee, LG Home Appliances’ senior product manager, Saudi Arabia. “Having our efforts recognized with this Green Product Mark is extremely gratifying. We’re also delighted that our products are maximizing washing efficiency and creating energy savings for the consumer. Moving forward, LG will continue to strive for green innovations that protect our planet’s resources,” said John Lee, president of LG Electronics, Saudi Arabia.
Through its extensive testing, TUV Rheinland identifies and commends the most sustainable products available on the European market. In addition to the rigorous examination of a product’s power and water consumption, manufacturing processes and several other factors are also evaluated before a Green Product Mark is finally awarded.
