JEDDAH: The Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI), reflecting a series of ascending tops, edged higher by 0.92 percent yesterday.
It opened at 6,749.00 points, which appeared to be the intra-day low, with subsequent trading sending the index up 62.20 points to close at 6,811.19 points.
On a year-to-date basis, the index crossed a positive return of 6.13 percent.
Small cap remained prominent among market cap indices, advancing 1.83 percent for the day.
All sectors closed in the upward territory, reflecting a collection of 807 points.
The Insurance and Media sectors were major gainers, which marginally increased by 2.72 percent and 2.1 percent respectively.
Top ten heavyweights also ended the day in green, with Saudi Electricity Co. rising by 1.91 percent, market leader SABIC (Saudi Basic Industries Corp.) 1.4 percent, Samba Financial Group 1.13 and Saudi Arabia Fertilizers Co. (SAFCO) 1.08 percent.
However, Saudi Telecom ended without any change.
The SABIC with SR 648.6 million also expanded 12 percent liquidity at Tadawul and remained most active stock on value basis.
There were 102 net advancing issues, a largely strong market breadth.
Among all Saudi stocks, Amana Cooperative Insurance continued to show the best performance for the third straight day, moving up 9.94 percent further.
