]Noted educationist Parveen Rasheed believes sports and games go hand-in-hand with education in the all-round development of a child.
Rasheed made a guest appearance at the Dunes International School’s Annual Sports Day.
“We need to appreciate the encouragement this school’s management provides in order to facilitate the concept of holistic education,” she said. “I am happy to note Dunes has made sports and games an integral part of the curriculum.”
Rasheed said teaching in the past consisted of imparting basic skills. “We all know now that true learning is much more than that; a school without games and sports is unthinkable these days,” she said.
Dunes founder Nadeem Tarin joined chairman Arjumand Bano, managing committee members Amjad Khan and S.U. Rahman, Principal Manon and Headmistress Kher in welcoming Rasheed to their annual celebration of sports.
Khan said: “It was an unforgettable day; despite the heat, the spirit of the teachers and students was high with energy and drive. There was a high level of enthusiasm among students as they waited eagerly to represent their respective houses and demonstrate their potential.”
Tarin congratulated management committee members for their continuous support, cooperation and guidance. “I thank all the parents, too, for believing in Dunes and putting their trust in the school.” he said.
The march past of the four houses of the school was synchronized under the leadership of head girl Rhea Gadoo and head boy Ahmed Ishrat. Energy was high as the kindergarten children fluttered around in a dance of rainbows and butterflies. Boys and girls representing the different houses participated in a physical drill, swirling fans and umbrellas in artistic appreciation.
