After three unsuccessful attempts, playing coach Allan Mapagdalita’s Jaguar team (Land Rover) finally received its first taste of victory as it downed Samaco of Rey Lauderio 102-89 in a battle of winless teams during the sixth week action in the 8th E. A. Juffali Basketball League at the Juffali court on Khurais Road near here.
Both teams matched basketball skills up to the second quarter, 20-19 and 42-38 in favor of Jaguar. In the third quarter action, the winners banked on a 12-4 run to take a 10-point advantage, 80-70.
In the last quarter action, Mapagdalita contributed 3 three-pointers and poured in 23 points in that period for the convincing win. In total he led the scoring at 30 points followed by Marcelo, 25. Fabillo scored 18 points and Pogosa, 15.
Las Pinas of the losing side finished with a game-high 46 points. Asites added 13 and Boledo 10.
In another game in the Inter-Company division, Petromin also pulled off a convincing win against strong rival KAFD 92-67.
It was the second victory of coach Sherlamaine Cruzis’ team in two outings in this division. They have one win in the Inter-Automotive selection.
The winners exploited the foul trouble by undermanned KAFD in the fourth quarter to uncork a 27-15 run and secure their second win.
Baisa 28 and Dela Cruz 24 led the scoring on the winning side while Ariola top-scored for the losers.
The Saudi Ericsson team led by Alex Palacio also collected its second victory in the Inter-Company Division against Hukaime 109-81.
It was another heartbreaker for coach Arnold Colesio’s team as it was their fourth loss in this division and they badly need a win to stay on track. Saudi Lebanese also received their second win in another showdown with Coffee Essense 95-93 to secure a 2-2 win-loss record.
