Jeddah Lanes team dazzles in FTBJ-ICBL event

JEDDAH: Jeddah Lanes became only the second team outside of Al Zamil Metal and Cristal Global to emerge Team of the Week after a singularly impressive display during the eighth session in the FTBJ-ICBL 30th Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes in Mossadia Plaza here.
Finishing strong by winning the third game and overall output, Jeddah Lanes compiled the top tally of 46 points the second best total of the tournament so far next to Al Watan Décor’s 47 that no team came close to challenging, with D’ Barkads a distant second on 38 points.
After back-to-back team awards, Zamil slowed somewhat and could only muster 17 points in third to last on the day but this hardly touched the Metal specialists at the top of the team standings.
Akiera Sato Bowlers and Pin Slashers tied on 38 points followed by Saudi Diyar Consultants 36, Sky Freight-TFC 31 and Kulisap ni Moe 27. Hidada Ltd. finished the session on 26 points with Cristal Global on 23 and Al Watan on 21.
Avengers and Yanbu Snipers were the last two teams to check in on 13 and 9 points.
The host bowlers actually had a double after Paolo Allego captured the men’s Bowler of the Week award after shooting the high series of 751 on lines of 208, 225 and 273.
Majid Aslani rolled 728 to back up Allego, while the ladies on the team, Marie Gumpal and Jeanette Cerbito, contributed 526 and 514. Gerry Mandanas carded 171-172 and Igna Salgado had 208 for Jeddah Lanes, which found its groove in the second game by coming in second to Saudi Diyar before topping the last game and overall output.
Rey Beltran and Cheryl Tibay spearheaded D’ Barkads by shooting 624 and 618 with Che Bautista the other player to bowl full games at 541. Danny Bautista had 230-188, Leo Edejer 218-173 and Rally Zamora 189-202.
Akiera Sato drew big numbers from the trio of Alex Flora 628, Matet Cavite 624 and Khalid Tailyoni 602. Ed Labuac tossed in two games of 182-179 while Nabeel’s single game of 195 counted toward the team score.
Bowler of the Week awardee on the ladies side, May Lourdes, led Pin Slashers with 672 on lines of 208, 215 and 189. Gary Raymundo, Aileen Miralbuna and Rene Punzalan fired three-game series of 631, 605 and 538 to go with the 193-157 by Ric Reformado and 192 by Jun Estefano.
At Saudi Diyar it was Edwin Ronquillo and Susan Patayan that led the single set of five players on 623 and 606. Priz Calidro came through with 598, Nap Patayan added 579 and Fatima Jintarat had 575.
Goying Salazar top-scored at Sky Freight on 648 with Imelda Sayago on 546 and Babes Tiongson on 535.
