Jeddah receives light rains

Light rains hit several parts of Jeddah yesterday at different times. There was no breakdown or traffic jam although rain caused some slowdown of vehicular traffic. Several families opted to stay home.
Light rains didn’t last for more than 20 minutes in most areas in the city.
However, it lasted longer on the southern outskirts of the city.
The humidity level remained at 47 percent and the highest temperature was recorded at 34 Celsius yesterday.
In several parts of city, children were seen enjoying the rain. Abdullah Ghamdi, 70, who lives in Safa district, wished the rain continued for least a couple of hours.
The Presidency of Meteorology and Environment (PME) predicted that thunder showers accompanied by winds would lash the Western region including Makkah and Madinah and continue through today.
Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Civil Defense warned the public to be on guard against floods and take all necessary precautions in the event of heavy rains.
