LONDON: Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, chief of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, participated in the Global Partnerships Conference in London, which was hosted by the UK Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development.

Al-Rabeeah discussed KSrelief’s humanitarian projects and emergency responses across several regions, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

He signed a joint declaration of intent between KSrelief and the FCDO to support children injured in the conflict in the Gaza Strip, along with Baroness Chapman, the UK minister of state for international development and Africa.

Under the agreement, KSrelief is launching a project to provide surgical care and treatment for Palestinian children injured during the Israeli military campaign in Gaza. Imperial College, London will be tasked with training medical staff.

Since 2015, KSrelief has implemented 4,367 projects in 113 countries, spending more than $8.4 billion on food security, health, education, water and sanitation, shelter and early recovery.

The Global Partnerships Conference is a two-day event that gathers officials from government, international organizations, and the private sector.

On the agenda are building new partnerships and discussing approaches to the crisis in the Middle East, which has disrupted energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz and impacted food security since March.

Nearly 45 million more people could face acute food insecurity if the conflict continues beyond the middle of this year and farmers are unable to obtain fertilizers, the UK Foreign Ministry warned.

Participants are also discussing ways to enhance digital systems and AI to empower communities, particularly women and girls, while minimizing redundancy in decision-making.
