JSC in-house football event kicks off

JEDDAH: The second in-house football tournament of Jeddah Sports Club ( JSC) kicked off at Dunk grounds (behind Ikea show- room) here Friday with EFS XI beating TAMER XI 2-0 in the opener.
Arvind scored the first goal of the tournament leading his team in the first half while a clean chip by Adel Ashraf in the second half sealed the victory for EFS.
Nabeel Hyder was man of the match as he did extremely well in bolstering EFS defense and executing clean passes along with comrade Sahal that helped EFS strikers to continue their campaign against opponents.
JSC chairman Kannur Abdul Rafeeque commended both teams for displaying a fighting spirit and proving their ability to play full ground for 50 minutes.
“This clearly indicates the strengthened endurance of our players after weeks of training under our spirited coaches Salim PR, Haneefa and Iqbal,” he said.
“JSC is the only children’s football academy for Indian expats in Saudi Arabia and prob- ably the whole of Gulf,” he said,
adding that it has been perform- ing well during the last two years. He confidently added that JSC would continue its efforts to reach greater heights in the coming years producing better results.
The chairman also praised the team managers for a job well done as they were instrumental in organizing and inspiring their teams and taking care of their needs.
P.K. Abdul Ghafour of Arab News, who inaugurated the tour- nament, commended JSC for establishing such an interna- tional facility for Indian expat boys and providing football training, which focuses not only on mastering the game but also overall personality development of the trainees by instilling disci- pline and core values that help shape a perfect human being.
The program started with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an by trainee Adel Ashraf, which was followed by a march past of participating teams.
The second match will be held next Friday (Nov. 16) at 7 a.m. when Tamer plays SEDCO. The match will be held after the reg- ular training session that begins at 6:15 a.m.
