Kashmir Black Day was observed at the Pakistani Consul General’s residence in Jeddah on Friday to show solidarity and brotherhood with the Kashmiri people’s struggle for independence.
Members of the Kashmiri and Pakistani community joined Abdulaziz Al-Jifiri, chairman of the International Qur’an Committee and Abdul Salik Khan, consul general of Paskistan to condem Indian atrocities and bring international attention to the Kashmir movement.
Al-Jifiri said India is violating the rules of human rights regarding Kashmir. “Nations of the world raise their voices in support of human rights for their own benefit, but no one is paying attention to the human rights violations and terrorism in Kashmir, Palestine and Burma.”
He condemned the terrorist activities in Pakistan, Kashmir and other parts of the world. He said the media plays an important role and Muslims should establish an independent media to reduce their reliance on other media agencies. He said instead of conducting small gatherings, it would be more beneficial to organize large-scale awareness campaigns to highlight the plight of Kashmir and it’s people.
Abdul Salik Khan, Consul General of Pakistan said Kashmir Black Day is observed around the world to condemn the forceful occupation of Indian troops in Kashmir.
Khan said: “The human rights committee recently exposed mass graves in occupied Kashmir, which is proof of Indian aggression against the Kashmiri people. I ask the Indian government to investigate this atrocity and punish those responsible.”
Khan said the persistent use of force has not weakened the indomitable will of the Kashmiri people. He thanked the leadership of Saudi Arabia for their support of a resolution to the Kashmir problem.
“Pakistan is committed to giving unfailing political, diplomatic and moral support to the people of Kashmir and we are hopeful the efforts and resolutions of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and United Nation will bring favorable results,” he added.
Members of the Kashmiri community heard many calls for the international community to play a role in ending the ongoing oppression in Kashmir. Masud Khan Puri, president of Kashmir committee Jeddah and vice president, Chaudhry Jafar Hussain, and Amir Muhammad Khan, chairman of the Pakistan Journalist Forum also spoke at the event.
Kashmir Black Day around the world falls on Oct. 27, but due to Haj the occasion was observed at the Pakistani consulate on Nov. 16.
