Alarming situation

The report “Yemeni Al-Qaeda gathers support” (Jan. 31) is very alarming. The sectarian policies pursued by Iran are only helping the terrorist organizations in the Middle East.
Perhaps that is exactly what Tehran and its “hidden well-wishers” need. But Tehran is mistaken if it believes that it will remain unscathed from these tactics. If the world powers are really serious in tackling the scourge of terrorism, they should rein in Iran. The sectarian divide in the Muslim world is deepening by the minute.
Undoubtedly, Tehran is to be blamed for that. It’s role in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and now in Yemen clearly indicates that Tehran is not at all interested in regional peace. It is stoking unrest in the Muslim world for selfish gains. Iran does not realize that it is part of the Middle East and an unstable region will ultimately have an impact on itself as well.
