Britain’s Daily Star newspaper has apologized to Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, UAE deputy prime minister and minister for presidential affairs, for an article it published on Aug. 18.

The story claimed Shaikh Mansour had paid Disneyland Paris to close the theme park to public so he could enjoy a private visit with his family.

In the apology, published on the home page of its online edition and in print on Sunday, the newspaper said: “In our article on Aug. 18, ‘Abu Dhabi Prince rents out Disneyland,’ we said that Shaikh Mansour had paid Disneyland Paris to close to the public so he and his family could enjoy a private visit. This was not correct.

“We have been advised that Shaikh Mansour and his family have never been at Disneyland Paris when it has been closed to the public and have never paid them to do so. They have not even been there this year.

“We apologize to Shaikh Mansour and his family for any embarrassment our article may have caused them.”
