Nine people, including a woman, were injured in an explosion at a laundry in Bur Dubai, city’s busiest area.

A Dubai police spokesman said the victims sustained moderate injuries and were rushed to Rashid Hospital. “A blast occurred at around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday and is under investigation.”

A police officer said the explosion could have happened due to an explosion of the boiler or the steamer inside the laundry.

Sources added that three employees of the Red Palace Laundry in Meena Bazaar area were hurt. The rest were passersby.
