DUBAI: The global community’s fight remains relentless in the war against the coronavirus pandemic, with some countries winning battles to tame the infection curve while others recording a resurgence of cases after easing lockdown measures.

17:35 - French health authorities reported 483 new coronavirus deaths on Sunday, bringing the total to 28,108.
17:15 - Egypt announced 510 new cases of COVID-19 and 18 deaths from the disease.
16:15 - The daily death toll from the COVID-19 epidemic in Italy fell to 145 on Sunday, the lowest since March 9, against 153 the day before, the Civil Protection Agency said, while the daily tally of new cases fell to a March-4 low of 675 from 875 on Saturday.
15:50 - The number of people who have died in the United Kingdom after testing positive for COVID-19 rose by 170 to 34,636, business minister Alok Sharma said on Sunday.
15:15 - Algeria announced 198 new cases of coronavirus and six more deaths from the disease on Sunday.
14:19 - Bahrain announced 183 new cases of coronavirus and 12 cases of recovery on Sunday.
13:40 - India’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) asked the government to extend a nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of coronavirus to May 31, as cases exceeded 90,000 and further clashes erupted between police and stranded migrants.
The NDMA, responsible for setting policy on the lockdown, made its request in a letter to India’s interior ministry, which is expected to issue detailed guidelines later on Sunday.
