New road to link Jeddah to new airport

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) in collaboration with Jeddah Municipality and the General Department of traffic announced the construction of a new highway connecting Al-Haramain Road/Jeddah highway and Al-Hijra/Madinah Road is now underway.
The new highway is part of the King Abdulaziz International Airport project currently under construction and will provide a separate transport network to the new airport.
Construction will begin south of the airport at Al-Nozha Road and the new highway will run parallel to it. All entry roads to the new airport will run perpendicular to the highway.
A series of seven bridges will complete the link to the urban areas of Jeddah. It is expected the new highway will facilitate fast and safe traffic flow from Jeddah city to airport facilities.
A number of detours have been set-up at key intersections along the Al-Nozha Road to allow for construction of the new bridges.
