TORONTO: Pascal Dupuis scored two of Pittsburgh’s three goals in the third period, and the Penguins stormed back to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-1 on Thursday night and win their seventh game in a row.
Marc-Andre Fleury made 28 saves for Pittsburgh (20-8), which defeated the Maple Leafs in a shootout in Toronto five days earlier. Craig Adams sealed this win by scoring into an empty net with 10 seconds left.
Bruins 4 Panthers 1: At Boston, Tuukka Rask made 29 saves, and Patrice Bergeron scored two goals to help Boston beat Florida.
Boston won for the 10th time in 13 games. The Bruins haven’t lost consecutive games in regulation since March 2012.
Blackhawks 2 Blue Jackets 1 SO: At Columbus, Ohio, Patrick Kane set up Johnny Oduya’s goal late in the second period and then netted the decisive score in the shootout, leading Chicago over Columbus.
Corey Crawford stopped 29 shots to help the Blackhawks end a two-game losing streak after they set an NHL record by getting at least a point in each of their first 24 games.
Islanders 2 Lightning 0: At Tampa, Florida, Evgeni Nabokov made 18 saves for second shutout this season and 54th overall in the NHL, John Tavares scored his 17th goal, and the New York Islanders beat Tampa Bay.
Jets 3 Rangers 1: At Winnipeg, Manitoba, Ondrej Pavelec made 28 saves, and Winnipeg held on to beat the New York Rangers.
Nik Antropov scored the game’s first goal, Antti Miettinen had his first goal of the season, and Andrew Ladd added an empty-netter with 39 seconds left for Winnipeg (14-11-2). It was Ladd’s 14th goal of the season. Dustin Byfuglien had a pair of assists for the Jets.
Capitals 3 Hurricanes 2: At Raleigh, Mike Ribeiro scored with 2:16 remaining, and Washington rallied to beat Carolina.
Alex Ovechkin and Joey Crabb also scored for the Capitals, who snapped a three-game losing streak and moved within eight points of the Southeast Division-leading Hurricanes.
Blues 3 Coyotes 0: At St. Louis, Rookie Jake Allen earned his first NHL shutout, and Chris Stewart scored twice and added an assist to lead St. Louis over Phoenix.
Allen, who has started four of five for St. Louis due to the struggles of veterans Brian Elliott and Jaroslav Halak, stopped all 28 shots to win his fourth straight. He is 7-1 since being recalled from the minors last month.
Wild 5 Avalanche 3: At St. Paul Minnesota, Rookie defenseman Jonas Brodin’s first NHL score highlighted a three-goal second period by Minnesota in a victory against Colorado.
Devin Setoguchi and Mikko Koivu also scored in the decisive middle frame. Ryan Suter had a season-high three assists, and Matt Cullen and Zach Parise each had two assists to help the Wild improve to 10-3-1 at home and bounce back from a stinging loss two nights earlier. Koivu added an empty-net goal with 33 seconds remaining.
P.A. Parenteau had two goals for the Avalanche, the second with 13:17 left in the game to prevent the Wild from coasting to the finish. Gabe Landeskog also scored and Erik Johnson had two assists for the Avs, but they were outshot 40-32.
Minnesota got the opening goal for the sixth straight game when Torrey Mitchell scored barely 3 minutes in.
