PISJ-ES showcases students’ talents at Pakistan National Day celebrations

The Pakistan International School Jeddah (English Section) celebrated Pakistan’s National Day on Sunday with an arts and science exhibition. The display showed the historic ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. A cultural evening topped off the day, featuring famous Pakistani classical and semi-classical singers and a performance by Ustad Hamid Ali Khan.
Muhammad Naeem Khan, ambassador of Pakistan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, inaugurated the event in the presence of senator of Pakistan and school Principal Sehar Kamran, distinguished guests and Saudi dignitaries.
Sehar Kamran said the objective of celebrating the Pakistani National Day and organizing the event was to project the significance of the day, educate the students about the history, culture and facts about Pakistan and its historic ties with the Kingdom.
“We are away from our homeland but our hearts beat for our nation. Our patriotic sentiments are not less than those of our brothers and sisters in Pakistan. We have tried our level best to provide an environment to express love for the country and feel the true colors of Pakistan,” she said.
Teachers and students decorated all areas of the school, highlighting Saudi and Pakistani culture. Students wore jalabiyah and thobes to reflect the traditional culture of the two countries.
Pakistani National Day celebration was also a moment of pride for the PISJ-ES faculty members, students and parents to witness Sehar Kamran’s launching ceremony of the book “King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud — Rationalism and Wisdom.”
“In this book I have tried to describe the charismatic personality of King Abdullah, as a king, a man, a citizen and a wise leader. I have documented public opinions, Asian and global views, humanitarian aspects of King Abdullah’s life, highlighted his philosophy of governance, and vision to deal with global events, his qualities and also a closer view of his personal life,” said Kamran.
Besides Ambassador Muhammad Naeem Khan, Consul General of Pakistan in Jeddah Aftab Ahmed Khokhar, Editor-in-Chief of Urdu News Tariq Abdul Hameed Mishkas, Assistant Editor in Chief at Okaz Group of Newspapers Faheem Al Hamid other distinguished guests and media representatives were present at the event.
