RAMALLAH: Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa briefed Cabinet members on political contacts and international efforts to halt the crimes of the occupation and terrorist settlers’ gangs and provide international protection for the Palestinian people.
The Cabinet, during its weekly session on Monday, warned of the sharp and rapid deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip amid severe shortages of aid and continued restrictions on its entry.
According to a UN report, about four in five families are experiencing critical or catastrophic levels of hunger, while only one-fifth of the daily aid needs is being allowed into the Gaza Strip, exacerbating the food and shelter crisis and threatening the lives of hundreds of thousands of people.
The Cabinet called on the international community to assume its responsibilities by ensuring the entry of sufficient quantities of aid without restrictions, securing shelter and basic necessities, protecting civilians, and preventing the humanitarian catastrophe from worsening.
Medical sources in the Gaza Strip said that the death toll from Israel’s ongoing aggression on the Strip has risen to 73,422 Palestinians killed and 174,401 injured since Oc. 7, 2023.
Since the ceasefire that took effect on Oct. 11, 2025, the number of Palestinians killed has risen to 1,288, while 4,290 others have been injured. A total of 813 bodies have also been recovered.
Health authorities reported that a number of victims remain trapped under the rubble and on the roads, as ambulance and rescue teams continue to face difficulties reaching and recovering them.
The Cabinet also called for further international measures against the occupation authorities to halt the implementation of the E1 colonial project, which has moved beyond the announcement stage to the actual launch of a tender for the construction of 1,234 settler housing units east of occupied Jerusalem.
It said the move represents a dangerous escalation aimed at isolating Jerusalem, fragmenting the territorial unity of the occupied Palestinian Territory, and undermining the two-state solution.
