Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah has ordered the Ministry of Culture and Information to update and renew media policies and regulations, said the ministry's Undersecretary for Internal Media Abdulaziz Al-Aqeel.
He said this would be done without infringing on the well-established policies and guidelines upon which the state is based. This would affect press and publications, he added.
Al-Aqeel, speaking on the sidelines of a ceremony organized to celebrate his promotion to the 15th rank, said policies related to internal media will not change with the appointment of new staff.
He said information was censored only if it was found to be incompatible with established political, historical and religious considerations. This has only happened in exceptional cases, said Al-Aqeel.
The promotion ceremony was attended by Minister of Culture and Information Abdulaziz Khoja and other senior officials.
