The Council of Ministers yesterday approved safety regulations for small cargo ships that are not covered by international maritime treaties in the GCC states.
The regulations were adopted by the GCC Supreme Council in its 32nd session, which was held in Riyadh in 2011.
In other matters, the Cabinet thanked world leaders and prominent personalities for extending their condolences on the death of Prince Badr, former deputy commander of the National Guard.
Culture and Information Minister Abdul Aziz Khoja said the Cabinet also reviewed developments in Palestine as well as the tragic situation in Syria, stressing the Kingdom’s firm positions on them.
The Cabinet stressed the important role being played by the Janadriyah Heritage and Culture Festival and commended the festival for providing writers and intellectuals a forum to air their views on different topics. It also praised the great efforts exerted by the National Guard for the event’s success.
The Cabinet approved a draft law on practicing veterinary medicine in GCC states that was adopted by the GCC Supreme Council in 2011. It also approved the provisions on the punishments for violations.
The Cabinet appointed Fawzi bin Hassan Hakim deputy governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO); Abdul Mohsen bin Mohammed Al-Yousuf adviser for SASO governor; Khaled bin Ali Al-Dossari Qatif mayor; Noor bint Saeed Baqader director general of educational information at the Ministry of Education; and Ali bin Muqbil Al-Osaimi director general of financial affairs at the Ministry of Interior.
