Burmese can ‘fill jobs gap’

Abdul Monem Al-Shahri, director of labor office in Jeddah, says Burmese refugees in the Kingdom could be used to meet the labor requirements of contractors and other companies.
Addressing a meeting at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he said: “Many companies that need seasonal workers depend on undocumented foreigners. They can now make use of Burmese workers,” he said.
The ministry encourages companies to employ Burmese expats by considering appointment of four Burmese as a single foreigner in the Nitaqat system.
