Expat community honors Indian television journalist

Khak-e-Taiba Trust (KTT) honored visiting Hyderabad-based freelance journalist Mohammed Khalid Mulla here recently.
Prominent community members who were present thanked Mulla for highlighting the welfare activities of the Indian expatriates in Saudi Arabia. Mulla came in for special praise for his work at the ETV Urdu channel. Mulla was in the Kingdom to perform Umrah.
KTT President Aijaz Ahmed Khan praised Mulla for his work highlighting KTT’s initiatives in Hyderabad. He also thanked Ramoji Rao, the managing director of ETV, for focusing on the needs of a minority community in the region.
KTT patron Shameem Kausar shared these views and added that ETV should be broadcast on the Pehla Plus pay channel for Gulf viewers.
He spoke about the difficulties facing Indians returning home after working abroad for many years. He explained KTT’s vision for socio-economic development and said its work should be seen as an investment in the future of underprivileged children.
In his address, prominent social reformer Aleem Khan Falaki said journalists must remain unbiased in their reporting, whatever pressures they face.
Falaki said Mulla is a principled journalist and academically qualified for his job with a degree in mass communication and journalism.
In his address, Mulla focused on the role of the media in public life. “A press officer or a correspondent can enjoy name, fame and money provided his information is based on in-depth research and coupled with a high quality presentation.”
Mulla commended KTT for reaching out to the poor and successfully providing free, quality education. He said that the Almighty recognizes the efforts of the KTT members.
KTT Vice President for Finance Mahmood Balsharaf said many expatriate Indians in the Kingdom were doing good work despite facing many challenges in the country. “Despite complex circumstances, we the non-resident Indians of Jeddah, are at the forefront of serving our community with sincerity,” he said.
The program was anchored by General Secretary Syed Khaja Viqaruddin who highlighted a few of Mulla’s achievements. “Before joining ETV, Mulla worked with the Free Press Journal in Mumbai and also contributed to Urdu Times. He worked hard and inspired many youngsters to join broadcast journalism.”
Information Technology Director Imran Kausar presented a PowerPoint slideshow illustrating KTT activities in Jeddah and back home in Hyderabad.
The program had started earlier with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an by Abbas Khan followed by an emotional naat or eulogy presented by Yousefuddin Amjad, a KTT senior executive. The organization’s youth wing members presented mementos and plaques to the guests.
The function ended with a vote of thanks by Falaki to the guests and those who had organized the event.
