Oriana Akiera Sato repeats as Team of the Week

Oriana Akiera Sato became the third team after Nasser Al-Hajri and Oryx Jets to win at least two awards when it repeated as Team of the Week during the 11th session in the FTBJ-ICBL 31st Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.
After a gap of only one week Oriana matched Nasser’s tally of two accolades, pooling the week’s highest total of 41 points. Oryx Jets, the winningest in the fold with four Team of the Week victories, tallied 37.5 points, while Al-Hajri and Sky Freight-TFC tied on 34 points.
D’ Barkads compiled 29 points with Hidada on 25 and Pin Slashers on 23. Taurus RDLR came through with 20 points. The last three to check in on the day were Lance & Thirdy 16, Avengers 14.5 and Jem Strikers 14.
Senior bowler Fuly Primo turned back the clock to claim the ladies Bowler of the Week award on 613 (169,187,167) and in the process complete an Oriana double. On the men’s side Jeff San Pedro of Jem Strikers shot 656 (196, 192, 256) to win the same award.
Oriana went 2-1 in the first two games in a strong start that cushioned an anemic third game where it finished seventh for 6 points. Also, Oriana had the highest overall output of 2,950 to seal the award.
Sulaiman tossed in 651 to make sure Primo’s effort didn’t go to naught while Maria Sato was the other player to roll full games on 478 at Oriana. Contributing two games each were Ding Dela Rosa 201-198, Alex Flora 213-181 and Ed Labuac 158-179.
Oryx, knocking at league leader Nasser’s door, had Majid Maslani firing the team’s top score of 639 to go with the 605 by Rolly Vistal, 576 by Jeanette Cerbito, 506 by Marie Gumpal, 204-210 by Paolo Allego and 171 by Igna Salgado.
Over at Nasser Zaldy Bacero led the charge with a 683 on lines of 246, 220, 217 followed by Jess Cerbito 548, Len-len Berina 519 and Merlen Pamintuan 513. Bonie Garcia at 203-179 and Victor Pagayon at 178 rounded out the scoring.
Babes Tiongson paced Sky Freight with a series of 591 with Goying Salazar on 560, Grace Dasas 557 and Atoi Cruz 535. Oca Bernabe added 195-221 and Rene Santiago 196. Dan Ednave produced one of the day’s solid scores of 616 to be at the helm of D’ Barkads who also netted 598 from Cheryl Tibay, 542 from Rally Zamora, 525 from Thess Grandia, 168-179 from Leo Edejer and 174 from Manny Tibay.
