This has reference to the report “Indian scholar seeks return rights for ‘Huroob’ violators” (April 21). The efforts of Sheikh Abu Baker Ahmed should be commended as even the government authorities failed to discuss and resolve this issue with Saudi representatives.
He has set an example that a scholar like him has the responsibility more than what the society normally thinks a scholar can do.
Being a Keralite, from the same place where Sheikh lives, I have had opportunities to witness his activities in social, educational and charity fields which benefited not only Muslims but the people from other religions also. The meeting with Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal on the present labor crisis is another feather on his crown as all Indians are expecting a fruitful outcome from it. — Abbas Ernakulam, Ras Al-Khair
