Gulfmart, a supermarket and hypermarket brand in the GCC, has opened its first store within the UAE, as part of the growth strategy of its Dubai-based owner, Retail Global company to open several more stores across the region this year.
The Gulfmart hypermarket, which occupies an area of 6,000 sq m, opened in Sharjah on the main Al-Arouba Street recently in the presence of a large number of customers and executives from Retail Global including Mohammed Ashfaq, group business head, Yvan Baba, country head and Yasir Arfat, operations manager-supermarket.
Gulfmart currently operates nearly 20 stores within Kuwait and Bahrain. The store in Sharjah marks the first of many such planned units, within UAE.
Mohammed Ashfaq said: “We are happy to launch this new hypermarket concept in the UAE in Sharjah, which is home to people from different cultures and backgrounds.”
He added: “As a very important brand within our portfolio, Gulfmart enables us to reach a wider customer base through targeted promotions specifically for our core customers.”
Ashfaq said: “We spend a lot of time understanding our customer needs and based on their feedback, we respond accordingly with specific products on shelves and promotions. We are confident that the Gulfmart concept will be a huge success within the UAE.”
