New distribution station in Hail to reduce fuel costs

Saudi Aramco plans to build a distribution station for petroleum products in Hail in June next year, sources at the company said. Experts say the project will cost SR 1.4 billion and will begin production by 2016.
Eleven reservoirs for the station will also be built with a capacity of 110 million barrels. A 16-feeder pipeline will connect Hail with Qassim, the source said. The pipeline will feed the reservoirs in Hail with gasoline.
The company will allocate four reservoirs for diesel, four reservoirs for gasoline (type 91) and three reservoirs for gasoline (type 95). There will be eight platforms to fill tankers with gasoline and diesel. The cost of the project includes the installation of pipelines, distribution stations and reservoirs. The station might be linked with Al-Jouf station in the future.
“The project is very important for the city since it will cover the needs of Hail and will reduce pressure on Al-Jouf station,” said Khalid Al-Ali, chairman of the Hail Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The project will help reduce the price of gasoline and diesel as tankers will no longer bring fuel from Qassim station, which is 260 kilometers away.

The Qassim station is one of the five strategic sites selected by the Saudi program for strategic storage.
The other stations lie in Riyadh, Jeddah, Abha and Madinah. The program is aimed at providing a secure system that protects the petroleum products and insures delivery to vital sectors, especially in emergencies.
