The implementation of the first phase of the strategic water storage project in the city is in full swing.
Confirming this, NWC said is the first project to provide water security and meet the needs of the citizens in the city. Other projects are being created to meet the growing demand for water.
The company is currently launching the second phase of the city’s strategic storage with a capacity of 1 million cubic meters, which will be completed by the summer of next year. NWC said the first phase of storage amounts to 1.5 million cubic meters and the duration of the implementation will take 24 months in Breman, Jeddah.
The project contains 8 cylindrical tanks, each with a capacity of 190,000 cubic meters, at a cost of more than SR 500 million.
The implementation and the establishment of the strategic storage projects by NWC is in the context of the steady increase in water demand, including during times of emergency and during the seasonal peak periods.
The company also has implemented a package of projects in support of the strategic storage in Jeddah.
The package includes the implementation of transmission lines for tanks, including networks divided by four contracts, which comprise a water line carrier to reservoirs in Al-Faisaliah costing more than SR 99 million, as well as the implementation of the project carrier line from Al-Faisaliah to Breman at a cost of more than SR 93 million.
