A 28-year-old Saudi woman was tortured, raped and beaten to death before her body was dumped on the road in the As-Samar District of Jeddah, according to Jeddah police and an autopsy report obtained by Arab News.
Two men, a 29-year-old school administrator, and his younger brother, 24, who works in the private sector, have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the May 10 incident, police said.
The two suspected killers live in the Governorate of Khulais. The younger brother is accused of helping move the body from Khulais to Jeddah. The victim was employed as a nursing assistant at a Jeddah hospital. Her identity is being withheld by Arab News.
“We caught the two murderers on the dawn of Saturday, which is less than 24 hours after the body was found,” said Jeddah police spokesman Nawwaf Al-Bouq.
The police, however, kept the matter secret until all the facts of the homicide became known and after the two men were taken to the crime scene to act out the incident.
The older brother was the boyfriend of the young woman. The brother, who allegedly was addicted to drugs, was employed as a teacher in a school. When the couple broke up, the woman told school authorities about his drug addiction. He was transferred from teaching to an administrative job.
“He said that she hurt him, and therefore he decided to take revenge,” the police report said. “The victim, a 28-year-old Saudi girl, was lured to a resort owned by the suspected killer in Khulais, a small town on Jeddah-Madinah Highway.”
When the woman arrived at the resort, the former boyfriend attacked her, according to police. He first tortured her by burning her breasts and abdomen with cigarettes. He then beat her about the head and body, breaking three ribs, according to the autopsy report. He also raped her, attempted to strangle her, and then hit her on the head, which caused internal bleeding that led to her death, according to the autopsy report.
Sources told Arab News the woman’s body remained late last night in the coroner’s morgue. A burial is pending.
The alleged attacker told police that he was drunk during the incident. He later called his younger brother. They drove to Jeddah and dumped the body in As-Samer neighborhood, around 7 p.m.
Arab News attempted to contact the family of the victim, but they declined to respond. Her colleagues in the hospital, however, said that she “was quiet, cooperative and had no disputes with anybody in the hospital she worked.”
