Ericsson empowers young Saudi talent

Ericsson recently participated in ‘Girls in ICT Day’ at Prince Sultan University (PSU) in an effort to expand its engagement with future industry leaders and empower young women to consider careers in the expanding and exciting ICT — Information Communication and Technology — industry.
The initiative, organized worldwide by members of International Telecom Union (ITU), was held this year as part of the University’s annual Computer Information System (CIS) day, where 100 young women studying at the faculty of Computer Science & Information Systems had the opportunity to learn about a career in ICT from PSU female alumni and Ericsson employees.
At the event PSU Ericsson Alumni held Qa&A sessions, where they discussed their career progression and the overall benefits of working in the ICT Industry.
Eight project teams presented their Software Developments ideas, and a panel of judges, including representatives from Ericsson, awarded the winning teams with different monetary prizes.
Commenting on Girls in ICT Day, Muneerah Aldakheel, Talent Acquisition Manager for Ericsson KSA, said: “Our participation in this initiative gives us a unique opportunity to connect with driven young students and provide them with insights into the ICT industry. We hope to provide the young women here today with an inspiring experience, filled with interesting challenges.”
The Girls in ICT initiative attracts hundreds of students across the globe each year. It aims to offer young women direct contact with future employers while exploring recruitment and training opportunities.
