A large number of Pakistanis, including parents and students, have been working hard to create the largest-ever national flag with thumbprints.
The white and green flag symbolizes the efforts of all nationals to keep the Pakistan flag “flying high.”
The campaign has been organized by Senator Sehar Kamran, principal of the Pakistan International School Jeddah-English Section (PISJ-ES) to promote and revive the love for Pakistan.
Flags of Pakistan have been unfurled at different places around the school grounds and hung on many walls.
The campaign includes Saudi citizens and guests. The Editor in Chief of Urdu News Tariq Mishkhas also added his thumb impression.
Miskhas said that Saudi Arabia enjoys a special relationship with Pakistan, based on the solid foundations of Islamic identity, common historical experiences and shared views on all national and international issues.
Kamran said: “Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have strong brotherly relations and deep-rooted bonds of love and respect. Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah is highly respected by all Pakistanis. When we pray for the prosperity, progress and peace of Pakistan, we also pray for the protection, sovereignty and stability of Saudi Arabia. The presence of our Saudi guests here reflects the true bond of affection and everlasting brotherhood.”
She said that PISJ-ES stands as a strong icon of Pakistan in Saudi Arabia. It is recognized as one of the leading educational institutions in the Middle East.
The first phase of the campaign included students, faculty members and the administration. All children wore badges of Pakistani flags on their chests and part of their uniform. The students also had the Pakistani flag painted on their faces, hands and clothing.
In the second phase, members of the Pakistani community came with their children who were dressed in the national colors. They were thrilled to place their thumb impressions on their country’s flag.
National songs were played and sung by students during the campaign.
