Ten Saudi artists will be among 365 others from around the world who will be part of an attempt at creating the world’s largest painting in Morocco later this year.
Artists from 26 countries will travel to Morocco on June 29 to take part in brainstorming sessions and discussions about the proposed painting, which will run until July 7. The Saudi artists are being sponsored by Arabian Wings in partnership with Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiatives (ALJCI).
The initiative is being organized by Moroccan Abda Society of Art and Culture, under the auspices of the Moroccan King Mohammed VI, the Moroccan Ministry of Culture and Information and the Ministry of Heritage.
Dr. Mohammed Bandouri, director of Abda Society, art enthusiasts, diplomats, ministry officials and artists will be involved in the exchange of ideas, techniques and culture that will begin later this week.
The painting in Marrakech will be on a silk cloth and with the theme “Youth and environment, paint the green future.” It will seek to enter the Guinness Book of World Record.
The ten artists who will participate in this historical event are Bahrawi, Felemban, Saud Mahjob, Mohammed Mahjob, Mohammed Hyader, Nahar Marzooq, Ayman Hafiz, Mona Sumbul, Saud Khan and Rashid Al-Sha’ashae.
Mohammed Bahrawi, owner and founder of Arabian Wings, said the 10-day educational and cultural exchange program in Morocco will be a great chance for Saudi artists to learn and exchange experience and culture of art with world-renowned artists.
“This will be the first of its kind event for Saudi artists,” he said, adding that such projects will help Saudi artists to accomplish something similar in the Kingdom as well.
“The painting will be 1000 meters long. So next time, Saudi artists will make something bigger,” he sid.
Bahrawi said one of the other aims of the event is to spread awareness about a healthy environment and caring for the youth “because the Moroccan King said in his message that we should take care of the youth and environment for our future generations.”
He said it is everyone’s social responsibility to preserve the environment.
Moreover, the Marrakech Ministry of Culture and Information will honor artists from around the world for spreading the message of peace and love. Saudi artist Najla’a Felemban will be among those to receive the honors.
The Moroccan government will also launch a book comprising biographical details of the participating artists.
